Sunday 04/09/05 Perrywoods Utd 1-4 Mostyn Rangers |
This was the first game for the Perrywoods U13 side and even though there were nerves within the team (and more nerves from parents!), they made a bright start. It was end-to-end stuff for the first 10 minutes with both teams having opportunities to go ahead. It was inexperience (and a foul throw by Perrywoods) that led to the first goal for Mostyn. That knocked the wind out of Perrywoods sails, and a second goal quickly followed. The introduction of 5 substitutes and some great goalkeeping by David Djillian saw the team start to play some better football. However, just before half time Perrywoods were hit by a third goal. The half time team talk must have done something because Perrywoods were quickly out of the blocks pressing to get back in the game. Josh Hirons (Man of the Match) had a great game, taking on players, and threading some good balls through for the forwards to run on to. Halfway through the second half, a ball over the top saw Daniel Weir chasing the defender to get to the ball first. This lead to the defender attempting a risky back pass which, his goal keeper missed giving Perrywoods their first goal. With 10 minutes left, it was again end-to-end football with further excellent saves being made by the Perrywoods keeper. Just before the final whistle, a Mostyn corner caused panic in the Perrywoods box and it was a Mostyn boot that was first to react and leave the final score Perrywoods 1 Mostyn Youth 4. |
