Perrywoods Utd 0-10 Wyre Forest Brintons
Venue: Greenhills
Man of the Match: Luke Perigo
After the previous weeks embarrassing performance, it was a more focussed Perrywoods United team that took to the field this week. And they needed to be because this was some challenge for Perrywoods as Wyre Forest Brintons are currently riding high at the top of Division 1 while Perrywoods are stalling at the wrong end of division 2.
Perrywoods were under pressure right from the off with Brinton playing some good passing football. After a succession of corners to Brinton it was only a matter of time before Perrywoods conceded. After weathering the storm for almost 20 minutes, it was a goal-mouth scramble that saw Brinton take the lead and at half time, the lead had been extended to 4-0.
In the second half, Brintons began to turn the screw as they pushed hard for more goals. Only some brave last man defending by Luke Perigo (man of the match) keep the score down. Other note worthy performances came from Daniel McNamara, who excelled in midfield, David Djillian who again made some good saves and Josh Hirons who put his foot on the ball and created the few chances that Perrywoods had to score a goal. Midway through the second half, the Perrywoods team tired and that showed as defensive gaps were exploited by Brintons. Although the final score was 10-0 to Brintons, it was a greatly improved and more committed Perrywoods performance. Lets hope that this can continue in to November.
